My name is Daylen and I have a BROKEN HEART. I was born with a severe and fatal heart defect known as hypoplastic left heart syndrome. It basically means I only have half of a developed heart. This heart defect kills 100% of all babies that receive no treatment. Nobody knows why it happens but it is very rare. I’ve successfully completed 2 of 3 open heart surgeries and I will have my last surgery when I am close to 2 years old. The surgeries will not make my heart work like yours, but instead it tricks my heart into thinking it works like normal. If you were to ever meet me without knowing my story, you would never know that I am a sick baby with a very visible scar that tells it all.
